The foundation course every new cleaning employee completes on day one. Covers professional standards, workplace conduct, your legal duties as an employee, and what clients expect from a professional cleaning operative.
What this course covers
Course 01 is the starting point for every new member of your cleaning team. It sets out what professional cleaning work looks like, what your business expects, and what clients have a right to expect when your staff are on site.
This course removes the ambiguity from induction. Instead of relying on a verbal walkthrough from a busy supervisor, every new starter completes a structured programme that covers the same ground, in the same order, every time.
Modules
Module 1: What professional cleaning means
Defines the role of a cleaning operative in a commercial or residential context. Covers the difference between domestic tidying and professional service delivery, why standards matter to clients, and how individual conduct reflects on the business.
Module 2: Appearance, uniform, and presentation
The practical standards that apply on every assignment: uniform requirements, personal hygiene, ID and access cards, mobile phone use on site, and the professional behaviour expected when interacting with client staff or building occupants.
Module 3: Your duties and responsibilities
What the employment relationship means in practice. Covers the employee’s legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the obligation to report hazards and incidents, following instructions, and working within your authorised scope.
Module 4: Client sites and professional behaviour
How to conduct yourself on a client’s premises. Covers access and security protocols, handling client property, what to do if you encounter a problem on site, and how to escalate issues to your supervisor.
Who this course is for
Every new cleaning employee, regardless of experience level or the type of cleaning work they will perform. This course is the prerequisite for all other CleanOS Training courses.
Legal context
Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, employees have a legal duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others. Employers must ensure new starters understand their duties before commencing work. This course provides that documented foundation.
