What this course covers
Course 05 covers the specific requirements of commercial cleaning contracts — the sector where training certificates matter most. NHS trusts, local authorities, and large commercial clients frequently require documented evidence of staff training as part of their pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and contract compliance audits.
This course prepares cleaning operatives for the standards, behaviour, and procedures expected on commercial sites, and gives your business the documented training records to prove it.
Modules
Module 1: Commercial environments and client expectations
How commercial cleaning differs from residential work. Covers working around building occupants, understanding site-specific schedules and instructions, the importance of minimal disruption, and what commercial clients include in contract KPIs.
Module 2: Office cleaning procedures
Standard procedures for open-plan offices, meeting rooms, breakout areas, and private offices. Covers desk policy (clean desk policy sites), equipment around workstations, confidential document handling, and the correct sequence for clearing and cleaning office areas.
Module 3: Washroom cleaning and hygiene standards
The procedures and frequency standards that apply to commercial washrooms. Covers NHS and British Retail Consortium (BRC) hygiene requirements, product selection for sanitary ware, replenishing consumables, biohazard precautions, and documenting completion.
Module 4: Communal areas, reception, and entrance zones
The areas that form a client’s first impression. Covers entrance matting, glass doors and partitions, lift interiors, stairwells, and reception desks — including the extra attention these areas receive during client audits.
Module 5: Contract standards and compliance documentation
How cleaning contracts define performance standards. Covers reading a cleaning schedule, understanding audit scoring systems, what happens during a client compliance inspection, and how your training records, method statements, and COSHH assessments are used as evidence.
